Check out the list of my favorite simple living blogs below.

What is a Simple Living Blog?

Let’s start with a simple definition (pardon the pun :)) of what a simple living blog is.  My answer is that a simple living blog is a content website dedicated to practical and helpful advice for how to slow down life and live with intention.  This also includes decluttering literal or figurative things in your life that is not serving you or your family well.

The world is extremely complicated (to say the least).  This complication of news, decisions, fatigue, work, family and home matters can cause a lot of stress and anxiety.  Finding ways to remove excess complications and create a more peaceful balance to manage stress can help your overall well being.

What Makes a Simple Living Blog Any Good?

My criteria for a quality simple living blog is to offer practical, doable content on how to apply simplified, slow living principles. I also respect blogs that don’t shame or make you feel guilty for not following the advice or living to a certain standard. Additionally, a great simple living blog will offer ways to gain small wins and not aim to meet impossibly high standards — we are striving for peace, not perfection!

For the record I have no affiliation with any of these bloggers or their websites, I truly just enjoy reading them and I am on most of their email lists!

12 of the Best Simple Living Blogs

The Simplicity Habit

I’m starting with one of my favorite blogs about simple living and organization.  I really love Juliana’s perspective and agree with just about everything she says.  She has some great articles specific to organization and decluttering; and is especially helpful with intentional living and prioritizing what matters most.

Minimize My Mess

Minimize My Mess is a great destination for those wanting to practice easygoing, approachable minimalism. As a former fashion marketing and public relations manager, I especially appreciate Ema’s posts about capsule wardrobes and her really cool capsule wardrobe calculator!

Be More With Less

I read Courtney Carver’s book, “Project 333: The Minimalist Fashion Challenge That Proves Less is Really So Much More,” a couple of years ago.  Wardrobes and closets are what I often hear people struggling with to declutter.  It is super easy to acquire more clothes than we need and yet still feel like we have nothing to wear.  Courtney discusses lots of ways to simplify your life and I especially love her minimalist approach to fashion.

Happier With Gretchen Rubin

Gretchen Rubin’s quote “outer order brings inner calm” is perhaps my favorite quote ever about simplifying life.  This is because I 100% agree with it.  In fact the need for inner calm is what inspired my love for outer order and was a big factor in starting my own blog about simple living.  Gretchen’s advice really comes more in the form of her podcast and books but you can also find inspiring posts on her website.

Becoming Minimalist

Becoming Minimalist is one of the true OG simple living blogs.  Joshua Becker has been writing and sharing his life as a minimalist for many years.  I love the look of his blog – serene and peaceful – even just the typeface and branding evokes a sense of calm.  If you are looking for an expert on simple living, Becoming Minimalist is an excellent place to start.

Becoming Unbusy

Zina at Becoming Unbusy debunks the idea we need to be “busy” to be fulfilled and provides ways to achieve a more slower-paced life.  Her message resonates so much in today’s world of fast pace, complicated schedules and digital living.  For inspiration on how to truly slow down and open up the white space in your life, look no further than Becoming Unbusy.

Filling the Jars

Julie at Filling the Jars writes a lot about decluttering and organizing but she also has sections on her simple living blog dedicated to journaling and inspiring quotes.  I love this since journaling is such an effective strategy to simplifying life and can help you uncover your true passions and priorities. Julie provides seasonal and specific journal prompts to help declutter your thoughts regarding different aspects of life.

Simple Lionheart Life

Simple Lionheart Life is one of the first simple living blogs I started following.  Melissa has a very clean approach with her blog design and I love her straightforward, thoughtful advice. As a fellow HSP (High Sensitive Person) and introvert, I relate to why she seeks out simple living in the first place.  Simple Lionheart Life covers the overarching topics of simple living:  decluttering, minimalism and intentional living.

I especially relate to what Melissa says about simple living:

“To me, simple and intentional living means living a slower, less cluttered life. Making it easier to enjoy my days and motherhood. The more I simplify and remove the excess from our lives, the more I make room to invite calmness and joy in. It’s a lot of hard work to declutter and clear your space, but the benefits are so worth it.”

Simply Well Balanced

Lauren at Simply Well Balanced discusses much about motherhood and home life.  If you are at any stage of motherhood and raising a family, this blog is the place for you.  Lauren is all about making this challenging role of mom less complicated and less stressful.  You can find a variety of posts about everything from decluttering to recipes to minimalism to holiday fun.

Practigal

First and foremost I just love the blog name, Practigal.  The play on the word “practical” for a simple living blog is so clever!  Theresa covers a variety of topics on her blog including organization, decluttering, capsule wardrobes and productivity.  Her practical approach is perfect for anyone looking to live life in a more efficient way.

Simply + Fiercely

Jennifer of Simply + Fiercely has a clean looking blog with easy-to-find articles about decluttering, minimalism and intentional living.  Her “start here” page is a solid beginning point for those who are at step one of their simple living journey. Many of her blog posts are directed towards those learning how to simplify – both figuratively and literally.

For the Love of Simple

Last but not least I am going to unashamedly plug my own blog :).  I have a passion for living simply, being organized and practicing intentional living.  For the Love of Simple is devoted to helping others do the same.  It is a place for those who are at any point of their simplifying life journey.

Perhaps you are at the beginning and trying to declutter a home after 40 years of acquiring stuff.  Maybe you are a working mom overwhelmed with all the things and decisions motherhood brings.  Or perhaps you are already a very organized, Type-A individual who just loves to read about organizing and decluttering! For all those needs and more, For the Love of Simple is happy to help.
